EPA Identifies 31 Proposed SNURS

On October 12, 2021, The US Environmental Protection Agency published a proposal of Significant New Use Rules (SNURs) for 31 chemical substances under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). All chemical substances on the proposed list were the subject of premanufacture notices (PMNs). They received a “not likely to present an unreasonable risk” determination under TSCA. The proposed SNURS are identified by their PMN number. Only substances listed on the non-confidential inventory are additionally identified by CAS Number. The deadline for comments is November 12, 2021.

Those who could be potentially affected by this are manufacturers, processors, and importers of the proposed SNURS. The EPA will require a notification of at least 90 days before commencing the manufacture, processing, or import of any of these chemical substances for any activity proposed as a “significant new use”. Information is provided below for the non-confidential, proposed SNURS. The full list of substances under this proposal, approved uses, and significant new uses may be accessed at https://www.regulations.gov/document/EPA-HQ-OPPT-2021-0220-0001. You may also contact the EPA’s New Chemicals Department (202-564-8974) if unsure of whether your use would fall under the “significant new use” category.

We will be consistently monitoring for updates. Request a TotalSDS demo today.
