Global Safety Management (GSM), a leading provider of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) software and services, has named Richard Nicholas Sr. to be GSM’s new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Derek Apanovitch in the role. Mr. Nicholas’ appointment is the latest step in GSM’s long-term strategic plan to scale the business and strengthen GSM’s position as an industry leader in the creation and translation of chemical product documentation. Apanovitch will support Nicholas and the GSM Board during this transitional period.

Richard Nicholas Sr. brings over 25 years of leadership experience in technology-enabled businesses to GSM. Most recently, he was a Partner at Florida Funders LLC. where he served on GSM’s board of directors. Apanovitch said, “The GSM team has been able to overcome challenges that none of us could have anticipated in February 2020 before the onset of Covid-19. I believe the company has a bright future based on the progress the team has made over the last year and GSM’s innovative TotalSDS software application that continues to mature.  During an unprecedented pandemic, the company realized significant annual recurring revenue (ARR) growth and strong customer retention, while materially reducing operating expenses. I am looking forward to remaining engaged with GSM and supporting Richard in his new role as CEO.”

“As today’s risk environment continues to evolve, I see tremendous opportunity for GSM to help the way global organizations create a proactive safety culture,” said Nicholas. “I am excited to lead the GSM team and look forward to building on the company’s accomplishments to drive the next phase in GSM’s growth as it continues to transform the way companies mitigate risk.”

“The company is grateful for Derek’s leadership and strong results during challenging times,” said Board director John Stein. “The Board looks forward to partnering with Richard as GSM enters a new chapter. Richard has a great track record of scaling software and technology services that create tremendous value for customers. We expect him to build on this record of accomplishment at GSM.”
